Lore: In the year 1706, the British Empire's fleet has discovered a strange phenomenon - an enormous portal to a strange new world opened in the ocean near the Americas. The British Empire diverted enormous resources to explore the newly discovered territories. Soon new settlers poured through the portal. The portal disappeared five years later cutting the settlers off. It would never reappear again. Many people commonly assume that the Age of Pirates ended as a result of the British Empire hunting down the pirates but it is more likely the real reason was that the pirates just escaped through the portal.

It is now 1799, Generations have passed since the portals closed down. New technological developments spurred by the easy access to magical artifacts and creatures resulted in an age of prosperity. Airships powered by both science and magic soar the skies, magically enchanted armor and weaponry are as common as conventional attire.
